This is the dub clip of Bakura saying that he IS Zorc.

Here is the sub version:

And now here is the manga version:

And there we have it. Three different versions of Bakura saying that he is Zorc and yet the entire fandom is oblivious to that fact.

But it was also stated (even up there) that it was a “part” of Zorc’s soul inside the Millennium Ring.  Also in the manga, the other Zorc with the Millennium Eye states that Atem sealed both himself and Zorc inside the Millennium Puzzle.  It’s obvious at this point that Zorc’s soul has been broken into several pieces.

Here is where my theory comes in.  When Zorc was attempting to come into the world back in ancient Egypt, he was working through Thief King Bakura.  When Bakura basically used himself as a sacrifice to allow Zorc through, he was still wearing the Ring, which caused his soul to be bound with it and also with Zorc’s, since it was his life force that had given Zorc the ability to come onto the physical plane.

Then Atem uses some magic that erases his own name and seals both his and Zorc’s souls away into the Millennium Item.  At this point, Zorc’s life force was closely related to two different souls, both Bakura’s and Atem’s.  The only way to function was to split apart.  The major part of Zorc’s personality melded with the shattered pieces of the Thief King’s soul, and became the Spirit of the Ring.  Who is still technically Zorc because his personality became dominant when the soul refused together.

Meanwhile, the other part of Zorc is still stuck in the Memory part of the Millennium Puzzle, where Atem sealed him at the end of the battle.  So there are two pieces to Zorc, and that’s not even that far-fetched considering that Bakura was able to split his own soul into two pieces at one point.  Probably the reason that the Bakura in the Memory World bows/genuflects to the other Zorc is because that’s a much smaller part of Bakura’s soul.  The rest of Yami Bakura is still in the physical realm because Ryo wasn’t allowed to go into the Memory World.  Since he’s a smaller piece of Zorc, he’s outranked by the larger part.

Another interesting theory that this brings up is about the piece of Zorc in the Millennium Puzzle.  What if Yami no Yugi at the beginning of the series was similar to the fusing of Zorc and the Thief King in the Millennium Ring, and was likewise a fusing of Atem’s and Zorc’s souls?  Atem’s part of the soul simply became more dominant because he had a better chance to develop; that would explain why Yami no Yugi can be so dark and even sadistic at the beginning of the series.
